The growth of our communities requires ongoing investments into the programs and organizations that are providing access, support, and tangible tools to our most vulnerable residents. PECO remains dedicated to supporting equitable organizations and efforts that uplift our neighborhoods and meet the diverse needs of our customers.
Since 1996, PECO has worked with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation for decades to improve access to resources for low-income and limited English language proficient communities in Philadelphia. In 2022, PECO supported PCDC in their efforts to raise awareness of the work that PCDC is currently engaged in to empower the community and support programs including: home ownership and low-income housing education, utility services support, and other services for low- and moderate- income residents; the Commercial Corridor Program which promotes small business organizing, design, and greening and cleaning to strengthen Chinatown business, and much more, along with support for the Crane Center – a mixed-use space which also serves as a recreation and wellness space that houses PCDC's youth and family programming. PECO also partnered with PCDC on a program to maintain the area around PECO's Callowhill sub-station as part of a workforce development initiative to provide employment opportunities to residents from the Chinatown community. PECO is also a sponsor of the annual Chinese New Year Banquet which raises much needed funds for PCDC's community programs for low-income and immigrant residents.

PECO is proud to work with Cradles to Crayons and team up to collect new and gently used children’s clothing, coats, shoes, books, toys, baby equipment, and school supplies for children aged 0-12. Cradles to Crayons set up county collection sites at community partner locations across the region. In 2022, PECO joined Cradles to Crayons for the ninth year to sponsor the Big Give, a multi-community wide collection day to benefit low-income and homeless children across the Greater Philadelphia region. PECO volunteers attended the event with family and friends to sort donations and helped serve thousands of children.

PECO has been a long-time supporter of Taller, a community based cultural organization whose primary purpose is to preserve, develop and promote Latino arts and culture. Taller is grounded in the conviction that embracing one's cultural heritage is central to community empowerment. PECO's funding has helped support the expansion of the EITC arts education program for low-income Latino youth in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the Philadelphia area. PECO sponsored community art programs and special events throughout the season which integrate artistic training with structured activities designed to foster personal growth and academic achievement. Programs serve and engage about 3,500 children and youth from kindergarten to 12th grade in cultural, STEM, and arts education programs.
